I am climbing for #RARE

The Kosi Challenge is the single signature fundraiser for Rare Cancers Australia (RCA), with the sole purpose of raising awareness and much needed funds for people across Australia impacted by rare and less common cancers.

In March 2026, I'll be climbing with hundreds of others, in support of rare, in memory of and with those living with rare themself – together we are a community and Kosi unites us all!

All funds raised through the Kosi Challenge goes directly towards funding the individualised, 360 degree person centred support that RCA’s team of specialist cancer navigators provide for patients, carers and their families.

Thank you so much for your support – now can I get a ‘Kosi, Kosi, Kosi – Oi,Oi,Oi!’

Why every little penny matters…

  • The 40% Statistic: Rare cancers account for 40% of all cancer deaths in Australia. They aren't "rare" to the families losing loved ones.
  • The Survival Gap: If you have a common cancer, your survival odds have skyrocketed. If you have a rare one, those odds haven't shifted in over 30 years.
  • The Price Tag: Many life-saving drugs for rare cancers aren't on the PBS. Patients often face bills of $5,000 to $10,000 a monthjust to stay alive.
  • No Roadmap: Patients with rare cancers often face "diagnostic odysseys," seeing multiple doctors for months before getting an answer. Funding provides "Navigators" to guide them.
  • Zero Clinical Trials: Most research money goes to the "Big 4" cancers. Funding rare cancer research is the only way to find new cures for the hundreds of less-common types.
  • Postcode Lottery: If you live in regional Australia and have a rare cancer, your options are even slimmer. Your donation helps bridge the distance and cost gap.
